Biography
Bronze artist: Doug Brown
Raised amid the prairie potholes of eastern South Dakota, Doug Brown was never far from a lake, slough or grassy meadow and the animals and birds to be found there. He spent hours studying birds, recognizing them by a flash of color, a patch of white, length of tail or bill..The same can be said of his knowledge of the deer, elk and antelope of the Dakotas and Wyoming where he spent 15 years working as a ranchhand and 20 years for Wyoming DOT. But, no matter what he was doing, he was never far from the wild places and the connection, physical and emotional, with the wilderness and it's inhabitants.
That knowledge and love of nature is very evident in Doug's philosophy and his art. He is a realist, striving to bring authenticity to each piece. He strives only to depict that which he has witnessed and even lived as a father, cowboy, and hunter.
"There are so many things in my head, stories to be told, I have ideas for many more pieces!"
